Milkmaid Braids

Did anyone else think Joanna Froggatt looked absolutely stunning at the Golden Globe Awards a couple of weeks ago? With minimal makeup and a simple hairstyle, she looked perfectly sweet and sophisticated. Anna Bates would be proud.

These milkmaid braids, or a braided crown, are a go-to hairstyle for me. I can do it right out of the shower, with hair that hasn't been washed in a day or two, or even as a date night updo. It's a no-fail solution for any bad (or good) hair day.

All you need to do is braid your hair into two braids. Your length of hair will determine where you should start braiding.
For short hair, you may need to start right behind or above your ear. For longer hair, go as far back and low behind your ear as you can on each side. Secure each braid with a clear elastic. Take turns bringing each braid over the top of your head, securing with bobby pins. The two braids should criss-cross right on the top in the middle. Tuck loose ends under the braids and you're done!
