Of Petals and Pillows

On a recent vacation to California, I was struck by the abundance of colorful flowers—and an even more, how happy they made me feel. Since I’m a terrible flower arranger and an equally unskilled gardener, I’ve decided to bring more floral happiness into my home in the form of something that can’t die or wilt: pillows.

When I hear the word “floral,” I tend to initially picture stale, old-fashioned prints in shades of mauve and country blue. But floral prints are in a big way right now and the current crop are bright, fresh, and modern. I love how a hint of flower power adds an organic element to even the most modern rooms.
